Monotype Printmaking Masterclass with Eugen Jarych

Friday 04th to Sunday 06th May 2012

Working on the Kinpurnie Print Studio's recently restored press, participants will be introduced to monotype, the freest form of printmaking. Under the expertise of Eugen Jarych, tuition will actively encourage and support participants to create their own unique artwork through the sharing of Jarych's own practice, examples of his work, discussion and demonstration. Topics will cover line and texture, in monochrome followed by investigations in colour in order to understand the versatility this method allows. Participants will employ a chosen subject matter if they wish to be inspired and afforded by the rich tapestry of Hospitalfield House and its surroundings, including landscape, seascape and still life application. It is also intended that participants will feel free to work at their own pace in an enjoyable and creative environment.

The Kinpurnie Print Studio was officially opened on the 28th of February 2011 by benefactor Sir James Cayzer. The studio, in what was once Patrick Allan-Fraser’s dog kennels, has been refurbished and complements Hospitalfield's excellent historic print collection, reintroducing a medium, which was an important part of the Hospitalfield's programme 100 years ago.

Friday 04th to Sunday 06th May 2012
Friday arrival between 4-5pm. Sunday departure between 5-6pm

6 Residential or Non Residential places available.
Places limited due to amount of close supervision required.

The Artist:
Eugen Jarych studied drawing and painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and was an alumni of Hospitalfield in the 70's. He then continued his artistic practice through training under the expert tuition and guidance of Annis Fitzhugh, Print studio Director at the Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre. Jarych has exhibited widely throughout Scotland and has spent recent years perfecting his own unique approach and techniques in monoprinting.

Level:
Tailored to the individual. Open to participants seeking beginner’s instruction or those wishing to further develop their skills.

Accommodation:
Full board based on two per room, equivalent of two whole day tariff. Single occupancy available at higher rate.

Places are only confirmed on receipt of full deposit
Payment in full must be received by Friday the 27th April 2012
