Jazz at Hospitalfield, after building up one of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable jazz audiences in Scotland, celebrated its fifteenth anniversary in 2004.

The brainchild of Alan Steadman, local radio presenter and Willie Payne, the Hospitalfield Director, Jazz at Hospitalfield has featured bands and vocalists from all over Britain plus internationally acclaimed artists like John Barnes and Roy Williams, Joe Temperley, brothers Allan and Warren Vache, Howard Alden, Cal Collins and Ken Peplowski, Mundel Low and Marty Grosz, as well as UK favourites such as Digby Fairweather, Phil Mason, and Tayside expats Molly Duncan and Sid Gauld. International guests are usually matched with the finest Scottish players like the Brian Kellock Trio or the Tom Findlay Trio, to produce exciting and innovative sessions often with their own unique inflection.

Alan sees the venue as keeping the jazz club tradition alive, something rare today. The programme is always pushing the edges of contemporary jazz, and helps to show case new directions in Scottish ideas.

Concerts are usually presented every five or six weeks and have been attracting capacity audiences for several years.
