Writers invited to seek inspiration at Hospitalfield

<< Previous | Next >>

Almost 200 years since Sir Walter Scott was inspired by Hospitalfield House, local writers and enthusiasts are invited to find their 21st century inspiration there at a special Sunday workshop in the Picture Gallery. The Literary Sunday Lunch Workshop on 22 January  will be led by prize winning Angus writer Lydia Robb who will be encouraging participants to use aspects of the splendid historic house, its history and its collections to stimulate  their creativity.

“Whether it’s poetry, short stories or novels … the atmosphere and artefacts at Hospitalfield  offer rich opportunities for the imagination,” said Lydia. “The workshop will kick start that process and if successful we will follow up with a session to develop a body of work which could potentially be published in 2013 to coincide with the bicentenary of the founder of the Hospitalfield Trust Patrick Allan-Fraser.”

Places are already proving popular and anyone wishing to prepare for the workshop is encouraged to read the new short history, titled Hospitalfield House.

The workshop, which is accompanied by a soup and stovie lunch, runs from 1-3.30pm and is supported by the Scottish Book Trust.  Tickets cost £10 and can be booked via friends@hospitalfield.org.uk
