From Paris to Arbroath and Beyond - the Talented Mr Wyse

<< Previous | Next >>

Henry Taylor WyseElizabeth Cumming, and Heather Jack explore the multi-faceted career of Henry Taylor Wyse (1870-1951), painter, craftsman, designer, writer - and above all, inspiring and innovative teacher - who first made his name on the national scene as Art Master at Arbroath High School.

His contribution to the Arts and Crafts movement, and art education in Scotland, is illustrated by numerous examples drawn from the Wyse family archive, and other private and public collections, shedding light on ‘HTW’s personal achievements, as well as his influence on contemporaries, in the role of colleague, teacher, mentor, patron and friend.
