14 Howard Alden and Jeanne Gies
The American guitar star is a frequent visitor to Hospitalfield. 03 In conversation with Sunset Song Actress, Vivien Heilbron. Vivien starred as Chris Guthrie in the BBC Scotland's renowned TV adaptation of Lewis Grassic Gibbon's "Sunset Song". Vivien will give readings from the book and describe the making of the TV series which was filmed in the Mearns.  She will be in conversation with fellow actor Michael MacKenzie who is best known as Dr Magnus Baird in "Taggart".' £12. Carol Kidd MBE is undoubtedly one of the finest jazz vocalists in the world. Two major figures in Scottish contemporary culture talk about their journeys with observations, insights, laughs and music along the way. Tutti Frutti and The Slab Boys playwright, artist and Honorary Patron of Hospitalfield, John  Byrne  chats  with  his  old friend, songwriter, musician and founding member of Stealers Wheel, Rab Noakes.  Join us for a very special evening. 7:30pm Admission £12. 11   Visitors Open Day                                                                                     
Hospitalfield welcomes visitors of all ages to join us for our next open day and festive celebration! Attractions include an exclusive high calibre arts & crafts fair. Selected artists as well as designer-craftsmen from Angus Open Studio members will have their exhibits on sale from 11:00am till 4:30pm. in both Hospitalfield’s Jazz Room and Studio space. A perfect opportunity for Christmas shopping! As with previous open doors events, the grand rooms of the house will be accessible to the public free of charge. Produce from the HOPE Garden will be on sale, along with soup, sandwiches, home baking and refreshments from the Hospitalfield kitchen. £2 tours of the house will be available every half an hour from 12:00pm onwards and Christmas carols will be echoing beautifully through the Picture Gallery by the Hill Street Singers at 2:00pm. That’s not all! Arbroath Abbey Timethemes will be joining us to perform in period dress and we will also be offering glasses of mulled wine and a Christmas Crafts workshop for all those feeling the festive cheer! Once again promising an inspiring, interesting and festive occasion.

Due to popular demand, we have made some alterations to our dining evening on the 18th of November. Join us for an evening of delicious dishes prepared by Hospitalfield’s first class chef Rod Linton. A three course meal set in the ambience of the Picture Gallery and historic house. Enjoy a festive Friends evening, all in the Christmas spirit and receive a complimentary glass of sparkling Prosecco on arrival.
