Double first for Hospitalfield

Sir Mark Jones director of the V&A in London was named as the first Honorary Patron of Hospitalfield at the Trust’s recent relaunch ceremony.  And in announcing the establishment of the new support organisation, Friends of Hospitalfield, Sir Mark went on to win the bidding for the title of First Founding Friend.

A special certificate illustrated by Hospitalfield alumna, ambassador and Aspect Prize winner 2009, Patricia Cain is now under preparation for presentation to Sir Mark.

“The launch was voted a great success” said Trust Chair Kenneth Cargill. “Hospitalfield is clearly held in great affection and esteem by many – not only artists but also art lovers and local people who have wholeheartedly welcomed our plans to widen Hospitalfield’s role as a centre of art and culture.”

Around 100 guests attended the launch and many have already shown their support by signing up as Friends of Hospitalfield – a status which allows privileged access to the house and gardens and to a growing programme of events starting on 18 April with a tour and tea. Friends can now join online via Paypal.
