When Patrick Allan-Fraser died in 1890 he left Hospitalfield in trust for professional education in the arts - a mission which has remained at the core of the Patrick Allan-Fraser of Hospitalfield Trust since.
The Trust revised its membership in 2010, repositioning itself to operate effectively in the cultural landscape of the 21st century and revitalising its sense of purpose. A new constitution was approved by OSCR and formally adopted at the Trust’s 104th meeting on 31 May 2010, allowing for a smaller, executive Board whose members have the required range of skills and experience. The new Trustees and Board Members are:
- Chair: Kenneth Cargill, ex head of BBC Scotland News and Current Affairs and governor of the University of Abertay Dundee
- Vice-Chair: Carol Pope, ex communications, publishing, marketing University of Dundee
- Barbra Chapel, retired solicitor and former board chair
- Stuart Cross, senior lecturer, Department of Law, University of Dundee and an expert in charity law
- Harry Dickson, chartered accountant
- Ronald Forbes RSA, professional artist
- Lady (Fiona) Fraser, extensive knowledge of charities, trust and fund-raising
- Cllr Ruth Leslie Melville, Provost of Angus
- Ian Townsend, former main board member for Bett Brothers, and a surveyor by profession
