Open Days at Hospitalfield

Home > Open Days

Hospitalfield opens its doors, free, to welcome the public four times a year. The dates are publicised in a number of ways including the local press and on Hospitalfield's website (link to events diary). These days – all manned by voluntary support, many of them Friends of Hospitalfield - have grown in popularity, now attracting many hundreds who appreciate the opportunity of stepping into this Victorian time capsule.

Typically open days include access to the first floor rooms including the splendid Picture Gallery where visitors enjoy the rare ambience of this fine room, its history and its collections.  

Guided tours of other facilities are also available, including Patrick Allan-Fraser’s Library of rare manuscripts and interesting features in the environs such as Patrick’s original Victorian coach.

Access is given, wherever possible, to the resident artists at work in the studios and also to the Kinpurnie Print Studio housed in the refurbished dog kennels to the rear of the house. Learn about our masterclass programme the creative opportunities at Hospitalfield.

The old coach house, now better known as the Jazz Room becomes a “pop up” café with excellent produce from the Hospitalfield Kitchen as well as delicious home baking from Friend's of Hospitalfield.

Joining the event with their quality goods on sale, we host a range of first class arts and crafts exhibitors as a regular feature at Hospitalfield Open Days. The Hope garden www.hopegardentrust.org.uk also take part in the days activities.

There is the opportunity to support the house through donations, joining the Friends of Hospitalfield, purchasing Hospitalfield's newly launched book or packs of Hospitalfield’s exquisitely designed notelets.

Every open day is different but you might expect live music, costumed appearances, arts and crafts workshops and other special attractions which vary with the season.
